What are Memories?

Understanding Memories in Hapax

One of the most powerful features of Hapax is its ability to remember. Hapax uses a concept called memories to store and reference important details from past interactions, helping it provide more accurate, relevant, and personalized responses over time.

What Are Memories?

Memories in Hapax are not full transcripts of previous conversations, but rather distilled pieces of information based on things the user has shared. For example, if a user mentions their role at the bank, frequently asked customer questions, or specific workflows they want to improve, Hapax can store those as memories. When the user asks a similar question later on, Hapax uses that memory to deliver a more helpful and tailored response.

Think of memories as a way to “teach” Hapax what’s important to you —once it learns something, it can apply that context without needing to be reminded in every new prompt.

Why Memories Matter

Without memories, every chat would start from scratch. With them, Hapax becomes a true assistant that understands your goals, preferences, and priorities. This unlocks:

  • More efficient workflows: No need to re-explain your team’s approach or terminology.

  • Smarter responses: Context leads to better, more accurate outputs.

  • Personalization: Your experience with Hapax becomes more relevant over time.

How Memories Are Created

Memories are created when users consistently reference certain ideas, tasks, or goals. Hapax will automatically capture these recurring themes. In some cases, the Customer Success team may also help formalize or structure memories to better support your team’s use of the platform.

A Few Examples

  • If a user often asks about teller training materials, Hapax may store that focus as a memory and start tailoring suggestions accordingly.

  • If a team mentions, “We serve primarily agricultural clients,” Hapax may start shaping future responses with industry-specific relevance, such as examples or regulations tied to agricultural lending.

Managing Your Memories

You’re always in control of what Hapax remembers. If a detail is no longer relevant—or you want to update something—you can edit or delete your memories anytime by going to your User Preferences

Pro Tips

  • Be clear and consistent in your prompts—this helps Hapax recognize patterns and form useful memories.

  • If Hapax hasn’t “picked up on” something important yet, just keep reinforcing it. The system improves over time.

  • Check your memories in User Preferences periodically to make sure they reflect your current priorities.
